Sony finally responded to PS3 jailbreaking acts. PS3 jailbreakers will be in trouble this time. Sony announced on 16 Feb 2011 that the company will terminate the PlayStation Network (PSN) service of PS3 jailbreakers permanently.
“To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.”
- Jeff Rubenstein, Sony social-media manager
There is no actual execution plan released by Sony yet. Sony is undergoing a lawsuit against a well-known iPhone jailbreaker George Hotz (geohot), who released PS3 source code hack in January 2010. Geohot is accused of unspecified damages on Digital Millennium Copyright Act violations and other allegations. FYI, he is the author of famous iPhone hacking tool Blackra1n & limera1n .
Last , remember iPhone jailbreak is absolutely legal , while PS3 jailbreak is illegal .
p.s. Microsoft’s XBOX360 has a lot of jailbreakers too .
