iOS 5 new features

Next generation of Apple mobile operating system iOS5 will soon be available for iDevice users. “We’re taking iOS to a whole new level”, that’s Apple’s slogan. It imports a lot of Cydia (jailbroken) software’s and existing App Store apps features in this version. Let’s see what’s new for this new iOS:

  • Notification Center: All SMS, Notifications, Mails, Reminders & Calendars will be shown in this notification center. This idea is similar to LockInfo (Cydia software).
  • iMessage: Messages can be sent from & to iPod, iPad & iPhone via WiFi or 3G. The idea is similar to WhatsApp (App Store software).
  • Newsstand: News can be accessed directly from iOS menu. Users can subscribe news and receives updates automatically. This idea is similar to Android’s news widget in dashboard.
  • Reminders: Reminders finally added to Calendar. It will work with iCal, Outlook and iCloud. Various mobile operating system has similar features.
  • Twitter: built-in Twitter is added to provide instant tweeting from Phone. Um… why not add Facebook too?

These features are not hard to be found in existing App Store camera apps. Through iCloud, photos can be shared to other iDevices.
  • Photo editing: Photos can be edited without leaving Photos app. At this moment, only few modifications such as photo cropping, red-eye removal and color tuning are allowed. We hope that more filter effects can be added. These features can also be found existing photo editing software in App Store.

  • Improved Mail: Mail can now be formatted (bold, italic and underline fonts & indent texts). Important mail can be flagged. Searching mail now includes mail content. With iCloud, there will be a copy of emails in the cloud.
